“Being Christian and Gay” is a topic I am addressing in a series of posts on this blog. I am Christian. I am gay.
There is a dichotomy of passion and reason in current responses to the gay-Christian debate. Both of these fundamental responses—passion and reason—ebb and flow to a degree; but passion, which often is blind, usually usurps reason, which comes only after passion is quieted. It is my hope that my experience will shed some light on living a Christian life as a gay man.
Since the foundation of the Christian faith is rooted in an understanding / interpretation of Scripture, these posts will examine a narrow slice of how the Bible informs a gay Christian’s sexual ethic. The following topics will be examined:

October 3, 2017 – Part 5: “A Christian’s Sexual Ethic” is an ethic that gets at and seeks to sustain truth; it is spiritual; and it embodies a love that is mutually respectful and reciprocal by nature.
October 10, 2017 – Part 6: “An Understanding of Sexuality” is important because it affects not only the physical (biological) aspects of life but also the emotional, social, spiritual, legal, and religious parts of us.
October 17, 2017 – Part 7: “Living Between Two Worlds,” gay and Christian, is perceived as an oxymoron—by many people in both the Christian community and the gay community; yet, here I am, a gay Christian.

I am glad you are taking on this topic. I look forward to reading what you have to say because i hope it will help me get through to close-minded people who think they know what the Bible says about homosexuality.
It is my hope that these posts will help move the conversation along. Hopefully people will examine these issues more carefully without assuming they have the answers, that they will try to see it from the other person’s perspective with respect and not condemnation.
